Strategy

The Warehouse strategy is based on five main pillars ...

Pray

All of the work that The Warehouse does is preceded and undergirded by intentional, communal prayer, which is at the heart of our strategy, relationships and structures. It is the engine behind all we do. We admit that we don’t have all the resources or knowledge to adequately resolve the issues of poverty and injustice, but we root ourselves in the principles and practices of prayer and allow God to lead us in our response.

Equip

The Warehouse team is involved in equipping the broader Church to reach the suffering in ways that uphold dignity and are sustainable. We do this through workshops, mentoring, support groups, training and various other forms of sharing information, experience and skills. The Social Development training team and community development field staff from the various programmes equip Church and NGO leaders, community and Church members, as well as anybody who wishes to learn how to effectively serve in the area of community development.

Inspire

Whilst many intimidating giants loom over our nation, the Church’s ability to radically impact the levels of poverty and suffering is unmatched. The Warehouse serves the broader Church, challenging it to move from a place of lethargy to compassion and ultimately, to action that is effective and demonstrative of Christ’s love. Many resourceful people are eager to help, but are often not sure where to start. We connect people and communities in mutually beneficial relationships that are sacrificial and sustainable.

Innovate

As the issues related to poverty, suffering and economic inequality in our nation are complex, so are their solutions. The Warehouse seeks God for creative and innovative ideas to effectively empower the Church in its response to poverty and injustice. Fusion’s approach to reaching high-risk youth in gang-dominated areas is just one example of this. Another is the unique response developed by the Care for Kids team to the growing numbers of orphaned children in South Africa.

Advocate

Speaking on behalf of those whose voice has been quieted by society is a crucial component of The Warehouse’s mandate. We seek ways to plead on behalf of the poor. We are committed to providing a channel of information that encourages, motivates and challenges the Church to take Isaiah 58 to heart. The Warehouse team also publicly recommends appropriate actions and provides a dynamic forum by gathering like-minded individuals and communities.
