Supporting churches in their journey towards peace and justice

WHAT WE ARE ABOUT

WHAT WE ENVISION

A church that actively bears witness to the good news of Jesus by living out God’s peace and justice for the world.

The Church

The Church

Both local worshipping communities and the global body of Christ.

Peace and Justice

Peace & Justice

Rooted in the biblical concepts of Shalom and Mishpat — right relationships and fairness, especially for the vulnerable.

For the World

God’s mission is love for the cosmos — and we are called to participate in it.

We support local congregations by enabling dialogue, facilitating collaboration, and inspiring hope-filled imagination toward justice-seeking action.

Our Story

2003
2003 Our Founding

The Warehouse was established as the justice and mercy ministry of the Anglican Parish of St. John the Evangelist in Cape Town, South Africa, in response to systemic poverty, injustice, and division in post-apartheid South Africa.

2010
2003 – 2010 Early Projects

Our initial focus was on church-based community transformation in the Western Cape through training workshops, advocacy campaigns, disaster relief, and various projects including:

  • Care for Kids (church-based care for orphaned and vulnerable children)
  • Fusion (ministry with gang and high-risk youth)
  • Workspring (pilot initiative for investment and business development)
  • Sweet Home Farm community development initiatives
2013
2011 – 2013 Strategic Review

We underwent a period of deep reflection and strategic revision, recognizing that our initial approaches weren’t producing the desired long-term change. This led to revised strategies:

  • Engaging Church Leaders
  • Facilitating Transformational Encounters
  • Adopting, adapting, or creating transformational resources
  • Researching, developing, and piloting initiatives
2018
