October 2018 Fires

The last two weeks of October 2018 saw 4 fires destroying just over 1000 homes and affecting just approximately 4000 people in communities across Cape Town.  Overcome Heights in Vrygrond, Town 2 in Khayelitsha were the biggest fires along with Kosovo in Philippi and Hangberg in Hout Bay.

The RESPOND Coalition is working with local church communities to support the intervention by the City and other NGOs.  Funds will be used to ensure effective delivery of household items, non-perishable food, toiletries  and sanitary items.

Town2 Khayelitsha : Diakonia, the Dutch Reformed Church and the Great Commission Ministers Fraternal in Khayelitsha have agreed to act as the coordinators for the response to the fire in Town 2 Khayelitsha.  Distribution will happen on 27 October 2018.
