Farewell to Craig

After 19 years of working for The Warehouse as one of its founding directors, and 5 years of preparing for this moment, Craig Stewart will be leaving The Warehouse at the beginning of next year. Craig will be joining World Vision International – a sibling organisation within the broader Micah Global community. We are so excited for this next chapter for Craig as well as for The Warehouse.

Craig has this to say about the move:

“The last 19 years have been a remarkable season of life for me and they have formed me and my faith in Jesus in foundational ways. You have been a part of that and I’m so grateful for your partnership and support over the years.

This moment has been planned for a while. Five years ago I spoke with The Warehouse Board of Trustees believing that it was time for me to move on.  After a period of discernment we agreed that it wasn’t time: that we needed to get a few things in place to ensure a successful transition.  Since then we’ve been working on putting those together. One of the most significant of these has been the development of a “Strategic Framework” through a collaborative process facilitated by the CDRA in Cape Town. This framework has been one of our anchors and plumb-lines over the past two years.

At the end of last year I indicated to the team that I believed 2021 would be my last year and I recently agreed to take on a new contract with World Vision International which I’m very excited about.

I’m excited for myself but I’m also excited for The Warehouse.  We have just finished our final Corporate Listening and Discernment week for the year (three times a year we set aside 5 days for more focused prayer, reading scripture and listening to God together) and there is an expectation and intent which is fantastic to see. The Warehouse staff team members have an average of 7 years each at The Warehouse and the current leadership team has 42 years between them so I am confident in how they will take things forward.  The Board of Trustees, led by our Chairperson Alexa Russell Matthews, have formed a team which includes key staff members to oversee the transition process.

There is so much happening at The Warehouse over the next few years. We would love to share these plans with you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or words of encouragement you may have.”
