Description
RESPOND is a coalition of churches and NGOs that started in the Western Cape of South Africa to give supportive emergency response during times of disasters such as floods, fires and displacement.
The RESPOND Coalition has been operating since 2012 in Cape Town, where it grew out of a recognition of the need for a more coordinated response to disasters by local churches such that the dignity of those affected was honoured and upheld and that the united actions of the Church would be experienced as love and good news by those receiving relief.
This manual has been developed, and revised in 2022, to reflect shared learning with the hope that it will aid the wider Church in South Africa and beyond in its mission to bear witness to the Good News of Jesus in both proclamation and demonstration.
